About Breeding and Maintenance
Q. How many fish can I keep?
A. For medaka (Japanese killifish), about 10-20 fish; for neon tetras, about 5-10 fish.
To avoid overpopulation, use the guideline of "1 fish per 1 liter of water, 1 cm in body length" and keep them with plenty of space.
Q. Can I also keep saltwater fish?
A. You can purchase an empty biofilter and use activated carbon, oyster shells, wool, commercially available saltwater filter media, or whatever you prefer. However, please understand that we cannot be held responsible for any problems that may occur with living organisms.

Q. How often should I change the water?
A. Aim to change about 1/3 of the water once a week.
Adjustments are necessary depending on the water volume, number of living organisms, and amount of food.
Q. What should I clean and how?
A. Mechanical filter (sponge, etc.)
Clean or replace every few weeks to once a month, depending on clogging.
Remove it and gently rinse it in aquarium water drawn into a bucket. Avoid scrubbing it with tap water, as this will kill the filter bacteria.

Biofilter (filter media)
It is recommended every six months to once a year, but it does not need to be cleaned as frequently as the mechanical filter.
Basically, like the mechanical filter, gently rinse it in aquarium water drawn into a bucket.
Try not to touch the filter media as much as possible.

Pump
Depending on the accumulation of dirt, clean the sponge and the pump's impeller every few months to six months.
Unplug the pump, remove it, and gently remove any slime or algae with a toothbrush.

Cleaning the aquarium body (glass surface, substrate, etc.)
Depending on the occurrence of algae, gently scrape off algae with an aquarium algae scraper or a soft sponge once a week to every few weeks.
Q. How should I perform daily maintenance?
A. It is summarized on the following page. Maintenance Method
